Since 2020, photovoltaic companies have accelerated the pace of production expansion. In the past four months, the photovoltaic production expansion chain has covered industrial chain links such as single crystal silicon rods (slices), batteries, and modules, with a cumulative expansion of 210.92GW. Among them, the largest expansion of photovoltaic cells and modules is the main direction of expansion.
Upstream: 75,000 tons giant expands production and speeds up
Since 2020, the cumulative production of upstream silicon materials has increased by 75,000 tons, all from Tongwei Group. In less than a month, Tongwei announced the expansion plan twice. Such an intensive expansion plan has aroused great attention from the industry. In the February conference call, Tongwei said that the cost of silicon materials would further decrease. The previous two first-level projects achieved a full cost of less than 50,000 in the case of single crystals accounting for nearly 90%. The new production capacity in the future will further reduce costs on this basis. The production cost is in the range of 3, and the new cost is in the range of 2. Technically, it is guaranteed that the proportion of single crystals is more than 85%. This means that Tongwei will still maintain a gross profit margin of more than 30% at the current price level, and the cost advantage is obvious. After the new project reaches capacity, Tongwei will also be on the throne of the global polysilicon capacity giant. (Test article)
